Partnering with Boys & Girls Club of Lee County

Kids at Boys and Girls Club Lee County
At RMHC, our mission is to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families in our community. And while we offer a number of programs that follow our mission, sometimes we need a little help from our friends – other non-profit organizations – to offer what our families may need. This summer, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County (BGCLC) did just that.

When families are staying with us, often siblings of the children in the hospital are living at the House with their parents. They are dealing with the same stress and fears that their parents endure – concern for the child under treatment, being away from their home environment and friends, etc. And the summers are often more challenging as they are not in school. So, when we saw that a few of the siblings staying with us had no summer plans, we contacted BGCLC and asked if they would include them in their eight-week, full-day, summer programs. Their clubs were practically full, but they were able to accommodate our kids and offer them a full scholarship to attend. And these kids are having the times of their lives. One of the parents told us that each morning, her son is up and dressed by 7:30 am begging them to take him right away because he doesn’t want to miss a minute of the fun.

Just see their smiling faces! We stopped by the club one day and found them enjoying time with their new friends. We are so grateful that with the help of friends like BGCLC, we are able to provide a safe and fun environment for them this summer that will bring joy into their lives and give their parents peace of mind. Thank you, Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County!
