We are Ronald McDonald House Charities® of SWFL

Faced with a child’s illness, life stops overnight and parents enter a world of fear and worry. For parents who don’t live close to the medical care their child needs, there’s added stress. Distance. Most families have to travel hours for treatment. Living expenses quickly add up. Long drives, lost jobs, worried siblings, sleeping in cars, being far from family and friends. These are extra burdens no family should have to experience.

That’s why we’re here to help – don’t go through this alone.

What does Ronald McDonald House Charities SWFL do?

With the generosity of our community, the efforts of our volunteers, staff and local McDonald’s restaurant owner-operators, we are meeting our mission through three programs.

  • The Ronald McDonald House® provides lodging, meals, and other supportive services for families with children receiving medical treatment. Families can stay at a Ronald McDonald House anywhere from one night to several months, depending on their family’s needs;
  • The Ronald McDonald Family Room® at Golisano Children’s Hospital provides food, refreshments, laundry facilities and a relaxation area for family members of hospitalized children;
  • The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® Program provides dental care through our partnership with two health care providers to underserved children. Of the 40 RMHC Care Mobile programs worldwide, we proudly have two to serve our community.

What is the Ronald McDonald House Charities® SWFL Mission?

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida is to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare.

When a child is sick, the entire family needs comfort and support. We strongly believe that when families are together they cope better, which is why we make it our mission that no family has to deal with their child’s medical crisis alone.

When a child is hospitalized, they need more than just medical care – they need their family. The Ronald McDonald House® is a ‘home-away-from-home’ that provides families with meals, housing, support, and more, all just steps away from their child.

Our Family Room is designed to be a place for parents to relax and regroup as they navigate this difficult journey with their child. The Ronald McDonald Family Room provides a place for family members to seek comfort at the Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®
Continuing our commitment to improving children’s health, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program® delivers free dental care directly to underserved children in their own neighborhoods, so they can have healthy smiles for years to come.
